My auction and dinner went extremely well. I raised around $3,100 in total. I was very blown away by the number of people there, the donations made, and how the auction went. Thank you to everyone invovled in anyway!
Just as an update...I only need to raise around $500 more dollars to go to AIM. Anything after that will help me get to Georgia for training and to buy the supplies needed for the trip.

Getting Started
So I finally got my support letter approved and the stuff back from AIM that I needed to include in my support letters. I spent all Sunday afternoon printing, folding, and stuffing envelopes with the wonderful help of my mom! I got most of my support letters sent out. I am still trying to find addresses for some people.
I am working on a letter for businesses for my silent auction. I am planning on trying to go around next week to get the ball rolling on finding donations for that. My dinner/silent auction will be November 22 at Gum Springs Baptist Church, so mark your calenders. I am going to be sending out offical invitations to everyone when the time gets closer.

Adventures in Missions
Right now I am in the process of applying for a mission trip with a group called Adventures in Missions. It is to Kenya, Africa and will be May 29-June 29, 2009. As soon as my references are turned in, I will have a phone interview and then find out if I am chosen for the team. I should know within the next month if I am going on the trip. Then I can start raising money. The trip costs $5,000 which will cover airfare from a training camp in the states, food, lodging, training, and supplies. I also have to raise money for a plane ticket from here to the training camp. I have already started to think about fundraising ideas.
From the time I was little I knew that I wanted to do mission work. I always felt God calling me to Africa. Within the last couple of months I have really felt God telling me to go now. Even though I may not think it is the best time financially or that I have enough time to raise money and leave the states for a month, I know that God is calling me to go now.
